Intel Compilation Fails

On Phoenix we are used to compiling VF with intel compiler. This seems to be broken, or at least we do not know which configurations work of:

• intel compiler
• cmake
• mpi
• gcc

Since we do not provide a CI container with Intel compiler, there is and there will be no automatic check if VirtualFluids still compiles with intel. Therefore, we cannot officially support intel, but unofficially it should be possible to compile it at least.

I just checked to build a docker container using our vf image as base image and adding OneAPI installation from here: https://github.com/intel/oneapi-containers/blob/master/images/docker/basekit/Dockerfile.ubuntu-22.04: Ubuntu22_04_intel_oneapi_basekit.Dockerfile

Then in the container set the compiler to icpx: export CXX=icpx Compiles the cpu code line, but with a bunch of warnings. When it's getting necessary again, we need to check which oneAPI version we want to build VF and then we can set up a CI Job for this. But it seems to work after all...

Additionally intel also supports singularity, so this could be something we have to keep in mind for the future: https://github.com/intel/oneapi-container
