Write Consistent Meta Data file

To increase reproducibility, I think it might be worth writing out a consistent machine-readable file with as much metadata as we can find. This is in addition to the log and output files we already create. A lot of information is already available there, so it just needs to be collected together.

This should be of course consistent for cpu and gpu simulations.
