use/define correct path for config files

If one starts a basic testcase of VF (GPU?) (i.e. DrivenCavity, SphereInChannel), it probably failed because of a wrong path to the config file. The upcomming error message is not "perfectly" user-friendly imho. Maybe there is room for improvement.
